Greetings! Thank you for visiting The White Rock Lake Volunteers In Patrol (VIP) is a non-confrontational program that helps the Dallas Police Department lower the crime rate at White Rock Lake. We serve as the eyes and ears for the Police Dept., giving them additional coverage of the park. Unlike most neighborhood VIP programs, we do not require members to be present at any given time, just to come to the park as they normally do. But with a cell phone and a little training, you can help prevent crime, and/or insure that the criminals are apprehended.
Neighborhoods and
communities that have an active VIP program tend to have a lower crime rate.
That is our goal with this program.
How does the
VIP work? Volunteer patrollers are trained by the Dallas Police Dept. The
seven-hour program is given on a Saturday, or on a Monday, Tuesday and
Thursday evening during one week. Part of the training program consists of a
tour of the 911 headquarters. VIP personnel are some of the only private
citizens allowed such a tour. |
